CONTACT ELECTED REPRESENTIVES TO HELP SAVE THE CALIFORNIA ENTERPRISE ZONES.
The California Enterprise Zones (CEZ) provide many incentives for companies to keep jobs and locations in California. We strongly encourage you to read the letter from Craig Johnson and become involved in the political fight to keep the state from cutting funding.
Letter from: Craig Johnson, President of the Dear CAEZ Members and Friends of CAEZ,
I have four very important pieces of information to convey to you today. Please take a moment to read below.
The May Revise Is Upon Us
In less than two weeks, the Governor will release his revised May budget proposal (May Revise). It is anticipated that he will continue to include elimination of the Enterprise Zone program in his revised budget. The Governor remains steadfast in his determination to eliminate the EZ program and insists that there is over $900 million in budget savings to be had. Despite our continuing efforts to educate the Governor that this figure is mythical at best and irresponsible at worst, he has not budged from his original call to eliminate the program.
AB 231 & EZ Reform
AB 231 (Manuel Perez, D-Indio), which included EZ reform and budget compromise language, is not moving forward this year as a budget compromise vehicle, as budget negotiations remain at a standstill. This means that as of this writing, we still don't know how the budget is going to be finalized and what will be happening with the EZ program. However, EZ reform may continue to be discussed and CAEZ will be at the forefront of those discussions. What we do know, is that Enterprise Zones are still at risk.
Letters To The Governor
It is imperative that letters continue to be delivered to the Governor, explaining the impacts and successes that the Enterprise Zone program has on communities across the state. My last email included a call for 10,000 letters to be sent to the Governor before the release of the May Revise. As of this writing, only 200 letters have been sent to the Governor. I need your help. Please take a moment to send a letter to the Governor. And please forward this email to anyone that you believe should send a letter. Click on the link below, enter your zip code, fill in the name and address fields that pop up and hit "send". It's that easy and it's that important.

CAEZ In Action Legislative Day
Another way you can help us communicate our message of success, is by participating in the CAEZ In Action Legislative Day on Tuesday, May 17, in Sacramento. I need as many of you as possible, especially EZ business owners, to make plans to be in Sacramento, as we go from office to office in the State Capitol, delivering the good news of what Enterprise Zones are doing in their legislative districts. I'm asking for 100 Enterprise Zone businesses from across the state, to attend this all important event. Just click on the link below to sign up.

It's All About Our Story
10,000 letters and 100 businesses. Our message must be sent with a full throated roar. If we don't do it, no one will.
Thank you for your continued support of CAEZ and the Enterprise Zone program.
CRAIG JOHNSON
President
California Association of Enterprise Zones
